Prayer & Fasting
The first Prayer and Fasting gathering of 2010 took place this week in Peterborough, with NewFrontiers leaders and FP Students gathering to pray and seek direction from God for the movement. Four members of CoTR attended this year: Nathan, Jonathan and myself travelled from Guernsey, Chris Tickner came along from Wales as part of his FP year.
Here is a brief report of the major prayer points and prophetic insights from the gathering. This doesn't cover everything by any means, but gives a brief insight into what happens at these significant events.
Revival
Throughout the entire gathering there was a constant sense of a renewed faith for revival to sweep across Great Britain. Terry Virgo shared about a book [I am reading the same book and it is excellent - The Ulster Awakening by John Weir] he is currently reading that describes the Ulster Awakening in 1859 - a significant revival that had an effect as far afield as Guernsey! He also shared that other church movement leaders were sensing a similar call to pray for revival.
The present moral decline of the nation was mentioned, with the recent British Social Attitudes and National Equity reports highlighted. Details of a number of new legislations brought into law over the past decade were shown as examples of increasing godlessness in British society. The need for revival is greater than ever!
There were prophetic words that God would move mightily in Cumbria and also the South Coast of the UK. There were also calls to remind God of his promises and call on Him to move mightily in our land.
Let us at CoTR begin to call on God for a revival here on Guernsey! Come Lord Jesus!
Church Planting / The Nations
We spent a significant time praying for the nation of India. David Stroud and Guy Miller are leading a church planting conference there which will gather 150 Indian leaders from around the nation. Prophetic words were brought that God would move mightily in India and that in coming years the Indian church would be a spearhead for the spread of the Gospel.
Terry Virgo will be visiting Japan and addressing a group of over 500 pastors, with the aim of teaching them about the grace of God. Japanese culture is especially prone to legalism and badly in need of a revelation of the grace of God. We prayed that God's grace would spread throughout the Japanese church.
We spent time praying for UK church plants. There are a number of new plants starting, including areas of Belfast, London and Birmingham.
Healing
Simon Holley from King's Arms Church in Bedford led us in a time of prayer for increased signs and wonders to accompany the preaching of the Gospel. The church in Bedford has seen well over 100 healings take place, including the use of "Treasure Hunting" - this involves seeking God for words of knowledge then going out on the streets and praying with people as directed by the Holy Spirit. On one occasion, a team found a group of girls and had been given words of knowledge for each one of them!
We also heard testimonies of healing for MS, blindness and breast cancer. On one occasion, a woman who could not move her thumb due to MS was prayed for and healed. Her unbelieving husband was holding her hand and felt her thumb move. So amazed with God's power to heal he responded to the Gospel and was saved that very night! What a great example of God confirming the Gospel message with accompanying signs! The team at King's Arms are especially passionate about contending in prayer for a real breakthrough in cancer healing and we were encouraged to contend for that in our churches.
We were led in a corporate prayer of repentance for unbelief, cynicism, skepticism and mocking God's power. Simon explained that the King's Arms church were extremely cynical and unbelieving about healing and had been convicted to repent corporately for their sin. True to his word, God forgave their sin and cleansed them of all unrighteousness - and demonstrated His lavish grace by an increase in healing.
Are we cynical, unbelieving or skeptical about God's power to heal? Let's repent and believe that God can and does heal in our day!
I hope this brief report has given you an insight into the "Engine Room" of NewFrontiers. If you are interested in going to Prayer & Fasting, please speak to one of the Elders. If you want to hear more about what happened, speak to either myself or Jonathan Le Tocq.
