Living in Hope, not Despair

Breakfast 4

What a wonderful treat we all had in store last Saturday, 17th May!  Ninety-five ladies attended the latest RockChicks breakfast where Diane Gaudion was the speaker.  We had lots of lovely comments, such as "the room looks beautiful, like a wedding!"  The white linen cloths decorated with vases of white daffodils did look very pretty.  For those of you who have never attended a RockChicks breakfast, it's not a bacon and eggs affair!  We have warm croissants, muffins, pain au chocolats, luxury yogurts, luxury fruits, bread rolls etc.  A wonderful continental style selection to choose from!

 Breakfast 5

The morning started with the ladies chatting amongst new friends at their tables and eating their breakfast.  Then a short time of worship was led by Andy Coleman and a couple of others before Diane was handed the mike.  Well, what a treat we had in store!  Diane started by telling us a little about herself and how she thought she'd end up "on the shelf" at the grand age of 15!!!  She spoke of how she prayed for a husband and how she found him!  And she spoke of all the places in the world that she and Eric have lived.  We laughed until we cried as she told us her funny stories - especially the one about keeping warm in their anoraks!!!  (You really must listen to her online if you missed this special morning.  Follow this link or by clicking on the "latest podcast" button on the Church on the Rock main page).

 Breakfast 3

Diane then went on to talk about the reasons they returned to Guernsey.  She spoke of a revelation that she had regarding her own life and how God loves her just as she is and how Jesus set her absolutely free; how she was set free from a life of despair to a life of hope.  She said that it's just so amazing what God can do with someone who says "OK Lord, I give up the fight, I invite you into my life, into every part", and the wonderful blessing of knowing that God can change you from the inside out.  She spoke about promises she is still holding on to, to give her hope for the future.

 Breakfast 6

An opportunity for prayer ended the morning.  It was a lovely morning - perfect in every way.  Each person attending was given a small gift as they left.  We trust all had a wonderful time and very much look forward to the next Rockchicks event.  This will be a New Wine ladies' event where Ellie Mumford from the Vineyard Church will be speaking.  She is another wonderful speaker and this is an event not to miss!  It will be held over the last weekend of the October half term (30/31 October, 2010).

We would also like to publicise that Diane's husband, Eric Gaudion, has written two excellent books which are available either by contacting the church office or from the following website: http://www.ericgaudion.blogspot.com.

Another fantastic morning and incredible value! I'd have paid £20 at least for this kind of women's event in England. How do you do it?? Can't wait for the next one with Ellie Mumford!! Or will there be one before then? Can we stay for the whole day please!!
